UCN Week in Review – RIP Joe Chavez
Another week in the books at the Undisputed Champion Network. A quiet week in boxing saw the passing of a fixture in the LA boxing scene, cutman Joe Chavez. Joe’s substantial impact on the sport was chronicled in Steve Kim’s profile, Goodbye, Joe Chavez. You’ll be missed.
Last night, the Premier Boxing Champions featured a main event in which a union working underdog Long Islander (Joe Smith Jr.) beat the man (The Polish Prince Andrzej Fonfara) who beat the man (Julio Cesar Chavez Jr) who must make his father proud this Father’s Day.

Meanwhile, K9 announced the addition of some new, regular scribes to the already formidable lineup at UCN. In his opening words for UCN, new columnist, and longtime friend of heavyweight champion Smokin’ Joe Frazier, Boxing Don Dinkins writes that Felix Verdejo “started out like he was double-parked” in his “ass-whippin'” of Juan Jose Martinez last weekend, all while labeling Roy Jones Jr. as “Rip Van Winkle”.

And as far as we can tell, you are happy “The President” Andrew Kennedy is stepping off of The Soapbox and into a regular read. This is going to be fun.

And it is just like The President to wish middleweight champion of the world Gennady “GGG” Golovkin a Happy Father’s Day.
