UCN Week in Review – Canelo’s Pre-Summer Vacation

A wild week in boxing with the WBC at the center of the storm.  The week began with the WBC postponing the heavyweight title bout scheduled for last night between WBC champion Deontay Wilder and Alexander Povetkin after the Russian tested positive for the banned substance meldonium.  By mid-week the WBC’s headache deepened as popular Mexican middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez vacated his WBC title so as not to succumb to the WBC’s “artificial deadlines.”  Just another week in boxing…
