UCN in Pictures – Pablo Casar Cano vs. Juan Carlos Abreu
Former WBA interim super lightweight champion Pablo Cesar “El Demoledor” Cano 29-4-1,(21KOs) who stepped into the Golden Boy Promotions main event after Randy Caballero pulled out with an injury, went on to defeat a wily Dominican in Juan Carlos “Merengue” Abreu (18-2-1, 917KOs) in a welterweight ten rounder on Friday night at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California.
Cano stepped on the gas pedal after a couple of rounds which saw Abreu dance around, loosy-goosy and all smiles at being able to outbox the stalking Cano.
Cano began to land hard shots which quickly faded Abreu’s smile by mid-fight. The Mexican’s harder, short hooks nearly dropped his foe in the sixth and seventh rounds, with the bell coming to the rescue.
An accidental headbutt busted up Cano’s right side of his eyebrow late in the fight.
Abreu was able to regroup and box, land the best shots in spots in the final rounds, taking the close fight to the card, managing to Buzz the Mexican near the final bell.
Scores were 95-95, 96-94 and 97-93 for Cano.
